Some students in visual art created mirror frames in term 3.  They selected a theme and constructed their frames using card and paper pulp.  They used paint, indian ink and found objects to decorate their frames.  Here are some samples.

Term 1 and 2 extension group.

These students have been working very hard to create 3D portraits in relief using custom wood.  Each layer had to be carefully traced so that placement of the pieces made sense and were in proportion.  The students had to cut the pieces out using a scroll saw, which at times was quite a challenge.  We thank Mrs Cameron-Smith for allowing us to use the hard tech room for these projects.  The following portraits are almost complete - just a few details to finish up.

We have made progress on our animal portraits - just some finishing details like adding fur or feathers and we will be done!

2018

Students in Year 7 this term are exploring ways in which to create texture on paper using a variety of tools and techniques.  They are experimenting with scraping, sponging, printing, melting crayon, using bubble wrap and a whole lot of other inventions.  From here they will create a background for their animal portrait by tearing and pasting.  They will choose from dogs, cats or birds for their animal portrait study.  They seem to be having a lot of fun!!  See example below and watch for more appearing over the coming weeks.

The students in this class are busy painting their giant heads.  This project arose from looking at the statues on Easter Island as part of their 'Footsteps from the Past' studies.  Firstly they had to build an armature to support their construction.  They used rolled newspaper, custom wood and heavy card to make a skeleton.  They stuffed this with screwed up newspaper and then papier mached over the entire structure before painting and sealing it.
Below are some more examples of students' art work from this term.
